Check out our personal desktops

Desktop appearance often reflects its owner. From a psychological point of view, the positioning of icons, wallpaper, color choice or use of certain accessories preferences indicate not only ephemeral, but lasting taste and personality traits.

If you've ever been curious to know how are the desks Softonic team, now's your chance to take a look at the screenshots of our computers. You see, some prefer the simplicity, while others have opted for either desktop tuning. The number of programs we tested each day often leads to some disorder. Each one of us, in his own way, tries to maintain a clear work area and useful at the same time, with some concessions to the gallery. The catch will show you, in alphabetical order, corresponding to the computers we use at home.

Please note that all have been reduced to a resolution of 1280×800, which in some cases has also decreased the final detail. Under each catch is a brief description by the owner:

Jordi Bonet (Windows XP)

Escritorio de Jordi Bonet

Jordi: As you see, I still shot of XP. I find it quick to load the programs that we use daily.

As wallpaper, I prefer the illustrations. I have a habit of atmosphere to the bottom as the season where we are. And the Desktop itself is used only to place the documents that I believe in a certain time.

Undoubtedly, the taskbar is my best friend. Always doubled its height. Thus, at the top I can put all the shortcuts to programs you use most and is in the bottom row where miniminizan windows.

Fabrizio Ferri (Windows Vista)

Escritorio de Fabrizio Ferri (Casa)

Fabrizio: As a shortcut bar use ObjectDock with skin Aero Zoomer II, uppermost. Note the presence of TuneUp and Everest UltimateTwo tools that I consider essential.

As I have set Desktop background "The Spectrum of the Sky"Dominic Kamp. The only icon that I like to have on the desktop is the trash. The others tend to disappear soon. It's something that has struck me since I tried BlackBox.

The theme is Aero, which comes with Vista: I have not found a better replacement, despite being an enthusiastic user of WindowBlinds. In XP I prefer to use the theme Royale Noir or Embedded Theme.

Julian Gomez (Windows XP)

Escritorio de Julian Gomez (Casa)

Julian: XP works fine but using it many years ago that the colors a bit tired. So I like to modernize your look with a little Royale Theme Remixed in its "Royale Noir".

The icons are grouped by areas. On one hand are the image programs in other P2P, in other games, which almost no-touch, another common documents and utilities in general and, finally, all browsers on a line.

This strategic position can not be lost just like that. So use Enterra Icon Keeper memorizing the position of all icons. The wallpaper changes. They are usually photos made by me that force me to adjust a little the position of the icons.

Jose Maria Lopez (Mac OS X Leopard)

Escritorio de Jose Maria Lopez

Jose Maria: Although substantive change often, usually dark colored, long ago that I have it, a mix of Aurora Leopard and the Apple logo.

Desktop always leave it empty and only files placed in use at that time.

The dock I put it to the left of the screen to take advantage of the 1280×800 widescreen MacBook, with direct access to the two folders I use most, by market segment, and the programs I use daily. Emphasize xPad, A book where I organize my notes and AppCleaner to uninstall programs you fret.

Luis Ponce de Leon (Mac OS X)

Luis: As you can see the desktop is almost as is standard. I've never tried another wallpaper I do not think it does. I do not use screensavers: 15 minutes of inactivity the screen goes off and that's enough.

I have aMule and uTorrent handy for me not to forget the title of a film before it reaches the browser. Some shortcuts added them to configure the computer for the first time but I have not ever used. The only access is really crucial is the Terminal.

Ivan Ramirez (Windows XP)

Escritorio de Ivan Ramirez

Ivan: I have no additional software on my desktop. Basically I increased the size of icons and I modified the Taskbar to fit me shortcuts in industrial quantities.

Desktop background is the house, based on the intriguing company Dharma, which many remember from the series Lost. White subdivisions to group icons are included in the background and I help maintain order.

Finally, the issue is one of the first versions of the Windows Aero theme for XP: Aero Style Glass Beta 1, including in this Longhorn theme package.
