Final specification of PCI Express 3.0 is ready

Final specification of PCI Express 3.0 is ready

Support for development of PCI Express competent PCI Special Interest Group (PCI-SIG) Has the final Specification 3.0 extension of the standard for connecting peripheral devices to the CPU chipset releases. The latest version offers a higher bandwidth and provides new functions for the most common I / OBus.

PCIe 3.0 increases frequency to 8 GHz, but remains compatible with earlier specifications PCIe 1.x and 2.x to 2.5 GHz 5 GHz, respectively. Due to the higher clock reaches PCIe 3.0 net bandwidth of almost 1 GByte / s in one direction on a single track (x1). At a transmission over 32 conductors (x32) the transfer rate increases by analogy, to up to 32 GB / s.

The previous 8B/10B encoding is a 128B/130B-Kodierung replaced. This will significantly increase the efficiency, the bottom line is what allows a doubling of the bandwidth without doubling the clock frequency.

Other enhancements include additional mechanisms for dynamic adjustment of power consumption, improved Tolerance Reporting Latency (PDF) and an optimized error correction. Hardware manufacturers now have access to the "PCI Express Base 3.0 Specification and can integrate the technology into their products.
